Please note: this is not the completed costume. Some parts were mailed ahead to my client, including a beaded belt and false under hem (with snaps for easy washing!).
This was an enormous commission for a white and silver snowdrop gown, in the theme of Arwen's Hall of Fire gown from LOTR. The main gown is of a white duchess satin, with a silk dupioni corset (it's reversible too). The entire gown is covered in embroidery and hand beading (so many beads!), as well as a delicate beaded trim.
It's hard to get good pictures of this on a dress form, since the sleeves hang oddly. And yes, the inner sleeves are very long indeed (she wanted to be able to pull them down or roll them up easily for convention days). In addition, it was extremely windy and bright when I took these, making for a difficult photo session.
I designed the costume as well as every inch of embroidery on it. If you're interested in commissioning me, please take a look at my website, www.flaxandkite.com for more information ^_^
It really depends on the design, materials, and embellishments. Generally gowns start at $350 and go up from there. Send me a note for a more specific estimate!
I really like the Elven Snowdrop gown how much would it take to make? And use sapphire color beading or a dark blue embroidery instead of the gold color?
