Two handkerchiefs I finished over the summer, all free handed. The left one is mine, the right is a gift for my boyfriend's mother for Christmas. Embroidery flowers is very therapeutic, I've found.

And yes, those spider-looking things are turtles.

Very pretty! I've been wanting to do something like this but am worried the back will look bad :( Is there a way to keep the back from looking like a mess?

Mm...don't jump far between stitches (i.e. tie off often), or A) mount the needlework in a frame or B) line the other side, if it's a garment.

Beautiful! And I could tell those were turtles, didn't even think they were spiders, haha.
And yes, things like this are very therapeutic, I've been doing cross-stitch like a fiend lately! :)

When I was stitching it, my boyfriend kept teasing me, telling me they looked like spiders ;_;

Lol, awww
Good men like to tease, it's how they show affection, at least in my limited experience. Been married 12 years and my husband still teases me about things, but always lovingly, of course XD
